LittleBook privacy policy
A clear look at what stays on your tiny computer, which features use Apple services, and the choices you control.
Effective date:
Back to LittleBookAbout this policy
LittleBook is developed and operated by DevItUp Ltd, an independent software studio in Fareham, UK. This policy explains information handled by the LittleBook iOS app, including its optional LittleBook Pro purchase. For help, visit LittleBook Support or email [email protected].
LittleBook does not require a DevItUp account or use a developer-operated app backend. Many features work locally, but Apple services and websites you visit process information to provide their features. “Local” does not mean that your device never sends information over the internet.
Documents and preferences
LittleBook stores notes and drawings in its private app storage on your device. Document records include names, identifiers, creation and modification dates, recent-open information and the note or drawing content. LittleFiles organises these documents; it is not a browser of all files on your iPhone.
Preferences include wallpaper and imported wallpaper images, hardware finish, dock and screensaver settings, keyboard and trackpad options, the selected app, browser settings and last URL, weather favourites and temperature units, and calendar display/filter choices. LittleMail stores a local first-open schedule and read/delivery state for its bundled fictional letters. It does not connect to email accounts or send mail.
LittleBook does not provide its own cloud document-sync service or upload these documents to DevItUp. Normal operating-system device backups may include local app data, according to your settings.
Photos and wallpaper
LittlePhotos asks for photo-library access when you choose Choose Photo Access. With Limited Access, it displays only permitted photographs. Full Access also allows it to list your photo albums. It reads still images and associated library information to show thumbnails and a viewer; it does not edit or delete your library.
A selected image stored in iCloud may be downloaded through Apple’s Photos service when you open it. Grid thumbnails are cached locally without requesting network downloads. Choosing Set as Wallpaper saves a resized copy in LittleBook’s local storage; that copy can remain after you change Photos permission. The separate system photo picker in Wallpaper settings provides only the image you choose and does not grant general library access.
Exporting a LittlePaint drawing requests add-only Photos access to save your artwork. Sharing a photo opens the iOS share sheet and sends it to a destination only when you choose one. Exported or shared copies are then handled by Photos, your iCloud settings or the chosen service. LittleBook does not upload your photos to DevItUp.
Calendars and events
LittleCalendar can browse dates without permission. Choosing Connect Calendars requests Full Access through Apple’s EventKit so the app can display calendars and event details, such as titles, dates, locations, notes, alerts and recurrence. At your request it can create, edit or delete events in writable calendars; recurring changes use the scope you select.
Calendar contents are read through the iPhone’s calendar store and are not copied into a separate LittleBook event database or sent to DevItUp. Display and hidden-calendar choices are saved locally. Changes made in LittleCalendar affect the real calendars and may sync through iCloud, your work account or another calendar provider according to that account’s settings.
Location, city search and weather
LittleWeather uses Apple MapKit for city search and geocoding, and Apple WeatherKit for forecasts and attribution. Search text, location information needed to resolve a city, and the selected city’s coordinates are processed by Apple’s services to return results and weather. You can search for a city without granting device-location access.
Use My Location requests When In Use permission and a one-shot location with a requested accuracy of about one kilometre. The location is resolved to a city before fetching weather. LittleBook does not save your device’s GPS coordinates or perform background location tracking. If you previously selected current-location weather and permission is still granted, reopening the weather app can request an updated city.
Manually selected favourite cities, their city coordinates/time zones and the last selection are stored locally. Forecasts are cached in memory for up to 25 minutes or the earlier WeatherKit expiry; a failed refresh may leave an earlier report visible. Apple’s service privacy terms apply to its processing.
Music library and playback
LittleTunes requests Music access when you choose Connect Music Library. It uses Apple MusicKit to browse your saved songs, albums, artists and playlists, including titles, artwork and playback information, and uses Apple’s system music player for the music you choose.
Library requests and playback use Apple’s music services, your Apple Account and the rights for the selected content. LittleBook does not ask for your Apple Account password or upload your music library to a DevItUp server. Music availability, streaming and subscription requirements are controlled by Apple and your account.
LittleBrowser and external websites
LittleBrowser loads websites through Apple’s WebKit. On first use, if there is no saved address, it opens the Wikipedia page about Macintosh. Text entered as a search is sent to Google; a website address is loaded directly. The app saves its last URL, site-mode preference and zoom setting locally.
WebKit uses its default persistent website data store, so websites may store cookies, caches and other web data on your device. Websites and their embedded services receive normal web requests, which can include your IP address, searches, form entries and information you choose to submit. Their own privacy policies and cookie choices apply. LittleBrowser is not a private-browsing mode, and LittleBook does not provide a separate in-app control to clear all website data.
The trackpad scrolls webpages. Links and forms are used by touching the screen directly; this interaction rule does not change how websites process information.
LittleBook Pro purchases
LittleBook Pro is one optional, non-consumable, one-time in-app purchase. It is not a subscription. Apple’s StoreKit loads the local price, presents the purchase sheet, processes payment and provides verified transactions and ownership status. LittleBook checks those records to unlock Pro and respond to restorations or revocations.
Restore Purchases asks Apple to synchronise transactions and checks ownership again. DevItUp does not receive your payment-card details through LittleBook and does not operate a separate purchase server. Apple handles transaction information under its own policies.
Advertising, analytics and diagnostics
The current LittleBook app contains no advertisements, third-party analytics SDK, third-party crash-reporting SDK or advertising-tracking integration. It does not send app-usage analytics to a DevItUp backend. This does not prevent a website opened in LittleBrowser from using its own analytics or advertising.
The app uses Apple’s local diagnostic logging for StoreKit product-loading errors; development builds also log purchase-state checks. Apple may process device, service, purchase, usage and crash information through its platform services according to its policies and your device settings. These platform reports are separate from an analytics service built into LittleBook.
When you contact us
If you email DevItUp, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you send. We use that information to answer questions, investigate issues and follow up with you. Please avoid sending passwords, payment details or private photo/calendar content unless it is necessary for your request.
Support correspondence is separate from the app’s on-device data. We keep it as needed to handle your enquiry and any related support or legal obligations. You can contact us about access, correction or deletion of information you have sent us; we will explain any information we need to retain.
Your choices and stored copies
You can change Photos, Calendars, Music and location permissions in iOS Settings. Declining or revoking access limits the related feature while leaving unrelated apps usable. System or family restrictions may also apply.
Use LittleFiles or the relevant File menu to delete unwanted notes and drawings. Changing permissions does not automatically delete locally saved documents, imported wallpapers, preferences or support emails. Deleting LittleBook from your iPhone removes its app container; offloading the app is different and retains app data. Device backups, photos you exported, calendar events, shared copies and Apple purchase records are managed separately and are not erased by deleting the app.
Calendar events remain in their original calendars; saved drawings remain in Photos until you delete them there. For information held by an Apple or other service account, use that provider’s controls. Do not delete the app as a troubleshooting step without first considering your local documents and backups.
Services, this website and policy updates
Apple’s services are governed by the Apple Privacy Policy. Websites opened in LittleBrowser, calendar providers and destinations you choose for sharing have their own privacy practices.
This product website is hosted by Netlify and delivered through Cloudflare. Loading it sends normal web requests, including an IP address and the requested page or asset, to those hosting and delivery services. These LittleBook pages do not add analytics scripts or an advertising integration. For the studio’s other website information, see DevItUp’s website policy; this app-specific policy describes LittleBook’s service integrations.
We may update this policy when LittleBook or its services change. The effective date above identifies the current version. Contact us if you have questions about a change.
